We offer a range of creative educational workshops that have been designed with the curriculum in mind. Central to all sessions is an arts-based activity (from printmaking to coding, clay building to electronics) that can be adapted to link with a specific topic or theme - this might be to coincide with a themed day or week such as British Science Week, or to tie in with something your class are currently studying such as the Harry Potter books or the Solar System.
Sessions can be delivered in school or at our learning studio in Wigan town centre. Upon receiving your enquiry we will discuss the sessions with you to find out your specific needs, so that we can ensure your students (and teachers!) have the best experience possible.
We are home to a gallery space and put on a programme of exhibitions by artists from across the UK, whose work links with themes of science, technology, engineering and maths.
We offer free guided visits of our exhibitions and provide a free education pack with each exhibition that will enable teachers to build activity around the exhibition visit. Your visit can be expanded to include a creative workshop inspired by the exhibition, either with a member of our team or the artist themselves.
Interested in free workshops or talks?
Alongside exhibition visits, we are sometimes able to offer artist-led workshops and talks to school groups for free. To be notified of these opportunities sign up to our schools mailing list.
We know that an important part of your Artsmark journey is to empower your teachers to deliver the curriculum with creative activity embedded throughout. We offer a range of CPD sessions that equip teachers with new creative and technical skills, whilst encouraging them to consider how the arts can be embedded into their teaching of all subjects. We offer a range of sessions that cover creative coding and electronics to hands-on making such as weaving and ceramics, and all sessions can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
We’re always excited at the prospect of working with a school on a longer-term project. This might be a programme of in-class workshops or CPD workshops, an after-school club, or even a school-wide arts project to produce a large-scale outcome such as a collaborative mural or sculpture - the possibilities are endless.
If you’re interested in working with us on a long-term project, please get in touch so we can arrange a chat to discuss your vision - you give us an indication of what you’re looking for, and we’ll come at you with the ideas!
