In partnership with the Lancashire Wildlife Trusts’ Carbon Landscape Partnership, four artists have been commissioned to deliver site specific projects intended to connect children, families and schools with their local green spaces.
Over the past few weeks, our four Wild Ways artists have been out visiting schools in the Wigan Borough, taking along a workshop to introduce the students to the green spaces around them! Jayne Seddon
Artist Jayne Seddon is working with children at Leigh St Johns Primary to develop field studies of the natural specimens collected at Pennington Flash. The children are creating brilliant drawings from the patterns that connect the incredible biodiversity at the flash!
Sally Gilford
Sally Gilford took her 'Smitten with Bitterns' campaign to Britannia Bridge Primary School in Bickershaw. The students learned about the Lesser Spotted Bittern and it's habitat at Wigan Flashes then screenprinted their very own 'Smitten with Bitterns' campaign poster!
Natalie Linney
Natalie Linney visited Bickershaw Primary School and taught the students about hapa zome printing. She took them to Bickershaw Country Park where they collected natural objects to use to print onto their own tote bags and decorative moth wings.
Joe Ford
Joe Ford took the class from Platt Bridge Community School to Amberswood and taught them all about 35mm SLR Cameras and how to shoot a roll of film. The pictures were then developed and used to write their own poems inspired by the green space.
