We’re excited to announce that we’re launching a new project in 2020 thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund. Make It is a twelve month program of creative workshops, making projects, and exhibitions designed to bring people together and build the creative community in Wigan. Project Events & News
This February half term we’re all about making. MAKE IT Art Camp is three days full of creative workshops for young people to try new creative techniques such as weaving, batik, paper sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, drawing, embroidery and more! Participants will work with our resident artists on small projects designed to give them a taster of a wide range of art techniques. Attendees will also get to complete their Discover Arts Award, a qualification that encourages young people to grow their arts and leadership talents. Young artists will get to take all of their creations home at the end of the week.
Sat 25th January - Sat 14th March To launch MAKE IT, we’re holding an open exhibition in our gallery, in order to showcase the wide range of creative talent and craftsmanship that Wigan beholds. The MAKE IT open exhibition will include work from artists and makers who currently live, or have previously lived, in Wigan borough. There’ll be work from both professional and hobbyist artists and makers aged from one to one hundred and one - it’ll be an eclectic display of what the most creative of Wigan’s residents past and present have to offer. Come and see!
